Beware of Evil Sith Lords

The Democratic party has been closely aligned with class action trial law firms for years. This alliance between trial lawyers and Democrats is not at all surprising. They have been battling in the same war using the same weapons for years. Their enemy, capitalism and those people deemed successful or wealthy. Their weapons, fear and endless ideas for regulation. These two groups need each other now more then ever.

Democrats have a lot at stake in the 2004 election year, and they have still not found a relevant issue to bolster their stagnant campaigns. They have been unable to villinize President Bush, who has remained a strong and able leader. They tried to criticize him for the collapse of Enron to no avail. Georgia's former congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, accused him of allowing the terrorist attacks on September 11th to further his own agenda. No other Democrat went that far, but they did make an attempt to blame him for not doing something to prevent the attacks. Also, liberals in general have been very supportive of the Palestinian cause. This situation has already encouraged many Jews in this country to change parties.

Democrats need a lot of money and they need it fast. Their image is in desperate need of a positive publicity campaign. Maybe this is wishful thinking on my part, but I believe they are quickly becoming irrelevant as this country moves forward.

Similarly, trial lawyers are under a lot of criticism. Especially, those huge conglomerate law firms that specialize in class action lawsuits. These law firms will put vast sums of money together and target a company or an industry in an attempt turn a huge profit. The actual people they are "defending" are of secondary concern to them (if they even regard them at all). In some cases the average person on the street may automatically be included in a class action lawsuit, without having made an actual complaint. The pharmaceutical / drug industry has been dramatically affected by these law firms. Is it any wonder that pharmaceutical drugs and medicines are so expensive when these companies have to absorb the cost of endless legal battles into their business?

As more and more American's become aware of the faults in our legal system, cries for tort reform have been growing louder and louder. People want class action lawyers to be more accountable to real clients. They want consequences in place to stop frivolous lawsuits. Enough disincentives need to be created to temper the overzealous and greedy law firms and lawyers.

Of course this would be a severe blow to the legal industry. It would affect the reputation of many law firms and lawyers and it would cut into their cash flow. Law firms need a strong voice in congress to counter the strengthening voice of the American people. Fortunately, the democrats desperately need campaign financing and are more then happy to help out.

This interdependence is eerily reminiscent of political situations found in Star Wars. I can not imagine a more deplorable alliance of darkness then Democrats and lawyers. Assuming that Tom Daschel and Johnnie Cochran are both evil Sith lords, which one is the master and which is the apprentice? Only time will tell... but until then, all we can do is hope for the one who will bring balance to the force and break up this iniquitous alliance!

Tuesday, February 4

I have sales meetings all day today, so I can only post a few thoughts. It really seems that this latest space shuttle disaster has brought America, Israel and even India closer together. We all lost heroes this past Saturday.

For the country of Israel who needed some good news, this tragedy was especially devastating. Israelis have had to live with the daily consequences of death and terror for a while now. Ilan Ramon being in space offered a welcome diversion, but unfortunately even this joy was turned to saddness.

I would pray that through this experience many of them will come to know and believe in their Messiah, Yeshua (Jesus' Hebrew name). He alone will bring peace and hope to the nation of Israel. Yeshua himself looked at Jerusalem and said (Luke 13:35), "For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, `Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'"

He said it with sadness right before his final entry into Jerusalem to make the final atonement for our sins. However Jesus' exclamation offers the Jewish people hope. Hope that someday when they call out his name, their Messiah will be right their waiting for them.

May the L-rd bring peace to Jerusalem in this time!

Conflicting Values

Over the years the UN has grown stronger in its opposition to the United States. I do not believe that the UN will ever consciously choose our side, however it is important to analyze where the point of conflict really is.

Historically, our political structure is still relatively new but remarkably successful. Individual freedom, capitalism and a government of checks and balances has continued to make America steadfast and strong. Karl Marx's prediction that capitalism would crumble into a socialistic society has still not yet happened.

What is the not so hidden secret to America's success? Normal, everyday people who are able to get up in the morning, work hard for their families, and actively participate in their government. Our history is full of these amazing individuals who have shown themselves to be remarkably successful.

I remember the story of Booker T Washington who when given the opportunity to sweep a floor, picked up broom and resolved to himself to do the best job he could. He was faithful in little and he became a great and successful man for it. It is humbling to know that my individual input along with so many others is the real reason this experiment in government and economics continues to work. As I press forward, I continually wonder what my little girl will be able to accomplish.

The UN is made up of nations who still cling to leftist, socialist values. A successful experiment in capitalism and a republic form of government attacks the very principles they profess to be true. Over the years I believe bitterness and jealousy has built up against the Untied States.

Ironically, despite their philosophical objections to the US, people from around the world come here to enjoy success and freedom. It is a shame that some of them while living here in peace and prosperity, still chose to undermine the very system and principles that made America great.

Why is the UN so worried over American unilateralism? Because they know we can do almost anything when we put our minds to the task. The freedom and prosperity in this country is not an encouragement for them to follow us, but a stumbling block.

The current debate in the UN is how best to deal with Suddam Hussein and Iraq, but under the surface two conflicting theories continue to battle. Capitalism and its emphasis on individual freedom with limited government involvement, against socialism with its emphasis on group identity and government control.
